We have successfully introduced a clinical auditor role to our inpatient mental health service to support the teams with ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for record keeping across the inpatient wards. The current post holder is reducing their hours and we are now looking for a second auditor to work alongside the existing post-holder.
You will be undertaking pre-set clinical audits, feeding back your findings to nurses and ward managers. You may also be asked to undertake new audits and contribute to their development.
Of course auditing by itself does not improve standards or change practices. Therefore alongside this, a key part of the role is to provide training to ensure new staff are clear as to what their responsibilities are around the completion of wellbeing (care) plans and clinical documentation with the aim of improving outcomes and inpatient experience for patients.
You will be asked to complete and present reports and action plans based on these audits in conjunction with the service manager.
The right attributes and values are essential for any role. For this post we need someone who is confident and articulate with the ability to give feedback in a respectful, constructive and clear manner. You need to be methodical and have attention to detail. Yo also need to be patient, kind and compassionate in order to support clinical staff in their role.
We will prefer candidates to have had some clinical experience to understand what they are auditing and the context of this in terms of the Mental Health Code of Practice. Knowledge of RiO clinical system, excel, word and MS Teams will be an advantage, as well as experience of training and presenting information to others. Candidates with these skills will be prioritised for shortlisting .
As the current postholder is retaining a contract, they will be available to support the postholder with induction alongside the service leads.
The post is 22.5 hours a week, and within this working hours can be flexible as well as work base. You will need to be able to travel to undertake training when restrictions on travel are lifted.
Employment in this post requires a Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
