NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS) - Support Analyst

We're hiring! Are you passionate about improving patient care by providing high quality information, systems and technologies?

We are offering an exciting opportunity to support the in-house developed Welsh Admin Portal (WAP) used across Wales to support clinicians in delivering improved patient care. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to support the WAP application.

As the functionality and user base of WAP increases, we are looking for an applicant to join our team. If you would like to be part of this team, you will need a strong technical background and an aptitude for problem solving, with the ability to work in a range of relevant subject areas.

A background in software support or development would be beneficial, however practical experience and knowledge of the following would be particularly advantageous:-
  • ITIL Service Delivery and Service Support
  • Incident, Problem, Change and Release management
  • Querying databases using T-SQL for data investigation and reporting purposes
  • Technical knowledge and administration skills in MS Internet Information Services
  • Practical experience in the use of a variety of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) e.g. SOAP/REST
  • Knowledge of XML & XSLT
  • Problem solving skills
  • Customer service roles

Experience of working within a software service delivery and 2nd/3rd line support environment is essential for this post. You will be expected to provide/produce:
  • Operational support of the service, responding to and investigating to resolution of underlying operational issues in a timely manner
  • Advice and support to clients and third parties connecting to and using the system
  • Information analysis and reporting
  • Deployment and configuration of system releases
  • Collation and correction of data quality issues
  • System monitoring and diagnostics
  • A knowledge base, by creating work instructions and configuration documentation.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
