We are representing a highly regarded, global banking institution that is looking to bring on an experienced tax professional into their London team. This is to join as UK head of tax.The role will be broad in nature, in line with being part of a wider international group. The position will leverage off your skills and knowledge to work in a position where you will take complete ownership of UK tax responsibilities, efficiently and effectively. Specifically some responsibilities include:Assess and manage tax risks, ensuring that tax risks and exposures are detected, reported and remedied in a timely manner and that tax risk is fully integrated within the overall risk management framework of the bankAdvise and assist the UK business lines and support functions in all tax related mattersAdvise on structural changes including new business lines and productsBuild relationships with UK business lines and strengthen business knowledge (banking, lease, commercial finance)Ensure that the business operates in a tax efficient manner and in line with the Group's tax risk appetiteEnsure that all UK tax compliance responsibilities are carried out in an efficient and timely mannerEnsure quarterly financial reporting of UK group entities' tax figures is complete and correctPrepare / review tax disclosures within UK financial statementsEnsure effective use of external advisorsLiaise with overseas colleagues on cross border issues and quarterly financial reportingReview/assess client structures to ensure these are within our risk appetite Maintain the relationship with HM Revenue & CustomsPromote tax awareness within business linesThe bank itself has a diverse range of business lines across asset based lending, corporate banking and global markets. They have a track record of developing talent internally; offering progression and lateral exposure throughout the business. This has enabled them to retain staff and develop a strong culture.The ideal candidate will be a qualified tax professional, ACA or CTA, with exceptional, in depth UK tax knowledge. Experience of a financial services environment is essential and big4 experience is preferable. Naturally leadership, communication and organisational skills will be of a high calibre.
