Our client is currently recruiting for a specific requirement working in their busy Covenant team as a Covenant Consultant.

This role can be based out of any of our clients main offices including London, Leeds, Reading, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Chelmsford, Wokingham, Manchester with some home working also considered for the suitable candidate.

This role requires excellent analytic, communication and consulting skills, a strong desire to assist and work with clients, along with a drive to deliver high quality work and assist to grow the covenant business.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our clients growing employer covenant team, supporting our wider pensions advisory offering. You will work alongside our established team of specialists and will be integral to accelerating the growth of our business both in terms of seeking new opportunities and delivering first class advice.

Your role:

Triennial covenant assessments, including forming a view on the strength of the employer covenant

Advising on options to improve the covenant strength, including contingent assets Affordability analysis and advising on conditional funding arrangements Development and implementation of covenant monitoring frameworks Advising on the covenant impact of corporate transactions Estimating the detriment arising from corporate activities and advising on mitigation options Preparing written reports and delegating tasks efficiently where and when appropriate Attending client meetings/calls and delivering our findings and recommendations Identifying potential targets through research, market awareness and through contacts Progressing leads, writing marketing materials and client proposals Presenting at pitches, attending marketing events and developing internal and external network

The person:

High degree of professional integrity

Covenant experience is a must

Management experience is a plus

Experience of advisory, audit, accountancy

Accounting qualification-Accounting (ACA/ACCA), actuarial (FIA) or similar qualification (e.g. CFA)

Preparation and delivery of covenant assessments and advice

Experience of a range of schemes

Experience of business development

Experience of insolvency appointments

Experience supporting/mentoring more junior members of the team

Strong numerical and analytical background

Diligent, with exceptional attention to detail

Solid understanding of the UK pensions industry

Familiarity with the latest guidance from the Pensions Regulator regarding the employer covenant

Experience regarding corporate transactions and consulting

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing skills

Ability to work with other professionals, e.g. actuaries and lawyers

Desire to contribute to idea generation and the confidence to express a view.

Appetite to get involved in marketing and business development activities

Existing network of contacts in the defined benefit pensions community would be desirable
