Purpose of the teamAs part of Group Finance, you will be part of a finance business partnering team, working closely with multiple Group business units, creating a real and active partnership with both operations and management.

The department is known as 'the Face of Finance' with specific business areas and as such is to provides 'real time' support and analysis, to be a trusted advisers and to add value that will assist in decision making.

Principal accountabilities
  • Responsible for month end processes for several Group Functions, generating profit centre reports for functional managers to agreed deadlines.
  • Perform ongoing reviews of profit/cost centres against budget/forecast and providing early indication to budget holders and key stakeholders of any potential risks and/or opportunities that may arise.
  • Consistently meet the period-end closing timetable and related administration responsibilities.
  • Perform budgeting and forecasting activities for the functions, providing healthy and constructive challenge to customers.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the whole of Finance to facilitate prompt and effective resolution of issues and to help to deliver excellence in customer service.
  • Supporting non-finance-based customers in the management of their income and spend, helping to educate them so they can confidently move towards self-serve.
  • Build relationships within the business partner community utilising the network to identify common issues, develop solutions and ensure sharing of best practice.

Essential skills include
  • CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualified
  • A good understanding of accounting principles and conventions.
  • The ability to translate complex financial information to non-finance leaders.
  • Commercial awareness and a positive, proactive attitude with a passion for driving positive change to elevate the level support and insight for our stakeholders.
  • Experience of financial period end processes, month/year end, covering all areas of profit and loss accounts and balance sheet.
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal), business partnering and analytical skills
  • Organised with the ability to juggle a varied workload.
  • Microsoft Excel experience (intermediate level)

Desirable skills include
  • Cedar Open Accounts experience.
  • Experience of accounting in a retail environment.
