1. Purpose

The purpose of the role is to work within a team offering their expertise in process management, design and controls effectiveness to the business in support of business and regulatory change initiatives, aligned to MS Amlin's defined Business Process Management Framework

The role holder responsibilities will include business analysis for initial scoping of potential activity, data gathering, process modelling, process and data analysis and diagnosis, design and implementation support.

An element of the Senior Business Analyst role is to act as a consultant and advocate of the Operational Excellence Function in all dealings with project and business team members as well as stakeholders of all levels. This includes upholding and promoting the methodologies, disciplines and standards defined within the Business Process Management standards

2. Dimensions

MS Amlin has embarked upon a series of initiatives to enhance its Process Management disciplines, which will support its control environment development and general efficiency.

Working within the Operational Excellence Team, this role will support the execution of the current portfolio of initiatives, contributing to the assigned project deliverables and where required owning specifically assigned deliverables.

The Operational Excellence Team consists of a blend of Permanent, Contract and Consultant resource engaged to support the business demand.

3. Key Result Areas

This role will work closely with the Operational Excellence Team and external consultants to deliver against a growing portfolio of business and regulatory change initiatives. Specific key areas of responsibility include:

  • Analysis of legislation to determine the business impacts of each requirement
  • Development of Policy and Standards for Operational Resilience and other regulatory change initiatives including changes to existing business processes and standards
  • Supporting the facilitation of workshops (both remote and where possible, on site)
  • Gathering, collating and analysing business process data such as volumes, values and timescales
  • Analysing process performance efficiency and effectiveness KPIs
  • Creating new process models and updating existing process documentation to the defined MS Amlin Business Process Management Standards
  • Creating business requirements
  • Producing project work stream reports as required including translation of analysis findings into action plans, recommendations, risk and issues etc


4. The Operating Environment and Context of the Job

The role reports to the Operational Excellence leader who reports to the Head of Operational Excellence & Risk Management within MS Amlin Corporate Services.

The role may also have a matrixed reporting line into Project and Programme managers as required

The Operational Excellence and Risk Management Team also has responsibility for supporting the first line in overseeing Operational Risk and Controls, and as such all team members have a role to play in assessing and understanding developing legislation and regulation and MS Amlin's response to such.

The combined skillsets within the team are complementary in supporting the functions to manage areas of operational risk and to target operational excellence.
