Position Summary:

Trupanion is looking for a driven and innately curious Accountant who will be a core member of the Financial Operations Team! As a critical member of a rapidly diversifying public company, this individual will work cross-functionally to support various strategic corporate initiatives and divisions, but will primarily collaborate with our Worksite Benefits Team to enhance and refine their financial processes. This is an action-oriented position that will need to pioneer the enhancement of financial tools, processes, and procedures to facilitate the rapid scaling of this key business segment, all while navigating gray-area and communicating effectively to peers, leaders, and other team members!

Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop accurate monthly group account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate to ensure timely payment remittance and payment applications.
  • Build out the Worksite Benefit broker commission payment process.
  • Ensure processes and related financial information produced adhere to US GAAP and are SOX compliant.
  • Spearhead the monthly financial and KPI reporting efforts for our Australian operations.
  • Prepare supporting documents for reporting, quarterly reviews, and/or year-end audits, as needed.
  • Think critically and maintain an inquisitive mentality to recommend, implement, and document operational improvements to promote efficiency and SOX compliance.
  • Other ad hoc tasks and projects as needed to support our 5-year strategic plan and vital growth initiatives.

Qualifications (Please include a cover letter with your application!)

Education & Certifications:
  • BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA preferred, but not required

Experience & Skills:
  • 2-4 years of public or corporate accounting experience, with exposure to a fast-paced and dynamic environment, desired
  • Experience with MS Dynamics Great Plains or a Tier 1 ERP system, desired
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, required
  • Ability to creatively problem-solve and drive process improvements, required
