Under the supervision and direction of the Internal Audit Management, the Internal Auditor is responsible for the various stages of the Operational, Financial and Compliance audits for the Company. The Internal Auditor will work with the other members of the team to enhance business practices and internal controls and perform other internal audit related activities to support the execution of the department's annual audit plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Execute the annual Internal Audit Plan as directed by Internal Audit Management. For each audit or advisory related activities, responsibilities include:
  • Planning: performs related research, develops first draft of planning docs through supervisor guidance and coaching and completes all assigned tasks including set up of project and work papers.
  • Fieldwork/Execution: with appropriate supervision, interacts with all levels of management and performs testing (including walkthroughs), takes ownership to complete clear and well-organized audit work papers that appropriately document the work performed, uses root cause analysis for problem solving and communicates potential issues timely to supervisor.
  • Evaluate: risks of key control deficiencies and effectiveness of overall control framework, and ensure management has effective and timely control remediation plans.
  • Reporting: Formulates appropriate conclusions regarding the adequacy of internal controls and procedures based on the audit work performed and knowledge of Company operation, drafts well written, clear and concise audit report and participates in presenting the findings to the Internal Audit Management and Business Management.
  • Remediation: Monitors the implementation of corrective action plans with first and second lines of defense and presents updates to the findings to the Internal Audit Management and Business Management.
  • Must be a self-starter willing to demonstrate leadership, proactivity and team building approach


Essential Knowledge & Skills:
  • Knowledge of laws, government regulations, and agency rules; specifically, but not limited to: BSA/AML, FASB, Sarbanes-Oxley, RESPA, TILA, UDAAP, FDCPA, COSO and the CFPB.
  • Knowledge of business and management processes, internal controls, risk management, and related standards.
  • Ability to research relevant compliance, industry and technical matters.
  • Experience in constructing and evaluating tests of controls, analyzing issues and formatting effective corrective action plans.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team, while also successfully executing independent assignments.
  • Articulate and effective communicator able to prepare and deliver detailed oral and written presentations to senior management and interact effectively with regulators and investors.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments with minimal supervision while meeting department performance measures.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate projects for timely delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Must have strong analytical and investigative skills, be able to work independently, and exercise sound judgment and observe the highest degree of confidentiality in the handling audits or investigation information.

Education and Experience:
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or MIS preferred or equivalent audit knowledge.
  • Must have at least 1 - 4 years' auditing experience in residential mortgage servicing, originations, or financial services industry.
