Job Summary

The Senior Accountant has strong accounting and reporting knowledge and extensive accounting experience. This position combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to effectively analyze financial reports and forecasts. The Senior Accountant is responsible for general accounting, cost accounting and reporting and will work with all functions within the organization.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and month-end closing procedures, including reconciliations.2. Reconcile general ledger and bank account balances
  • Verify, allocate and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Reconcile accounting records with sponsor contracts to determine proper revenue accruals
  • Act as financial reporting liaison with investors
  • Work with banking relationships including maintaining lender requirements
  • Assist in preparation of monthly and annual reporting package
  • Assist in annual budget preparation
  • Assist in preparation of interim forecasts and projections
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Act as point of contact for accounting systems and procedures, modifications and transitions
  • Produce error-free accounting reports
  • Liaison with independent auditors in gathering and providing financial information in preparation of annual audits
  • Assist with tax return preparation and audits
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all accounting records along with compliance with GAAP.18. Possible supervision of accounting staff
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education
• A bachelor's degree in accounting required
• An MBA or equivalent experience preferred

Experience/Training
• 3-5 years accounting experience including reconciliation, analysis and financial statement preparation
• Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft Dynamics GP required
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Advanced Excel
• Knowledge of project accounting and reporting helpful
