This position is located in the Office of Internal Audit. The office is comprised of one manager and four auditors (one vacant). The office conducts a wide variety of operational, financial and performance audits of all city programs and functions. Audit reports are submitted to the City Manager and department heads.

HIRING RANGE: : $56,732.00 - $75,000.00 (Promotional Range may vary)

1. Perform all aspects of audit projects as directed by the Internal Audit Manager: (1) perform a risk assessment (2) design an audit program that will provide sufficient evidence to draw conclusions; (3) collect evidence through interviews, testing, data analysis, review of documents; (4) draft reports presenting conclusions, findings and recommendations;

2. Assist in management of employee hotline - follow up on reports and make recommendations.

3. Other related tasks and duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited college or university (Bachelor's Degree) and. 3-5 years of audit experience. Master's degree preferred. A relevant professional certification is required (such as CPA, CIA, CISA). Information technology, healthcare, construction and performance auditing experience all viewed favorably.
Applicants may substitute additional relevant experience for the required education.

Knowledge and Abilities

1. Thorough knowledge of principles and techniques of auditing;
2. Ability to understand processes, evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements;
3. Strong data analysis skills;
4. Must be able to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
5. Ability to deal tactfully with employees and non-city agencies;
6. Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions;
7. Some knowledge of governmental fund accounting and grants preferred.

ADA and Other Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
