Job Title: AIA Issue Closure Assurance Manager

Location: Pune


Assurance and Industry Attestations (AIA) works across allBusiness Units and Functions providing the Chief Controls Officer with assurance regarding the effectiveness of controls, associated remedial activities and control coaching to improve the risk and control profile across the organisation. Key service lines include: Issue Closure Assurance, Industry Attestations, CEA Assurance, BCF Assurance and Professional Practices.

The successful candidate would work within the Issue Closure Assurance team to review the actions across the Group to strengthen the associated control environment, validating whether the intended outcome has been achieved and its associated sustainability. This will involve working closely with senior Stakeholders to ensure that the programme clearly articulates the steps taken to mitigate risk, through the implementation of supporting controls and ensuring alignment of the evidence with Bank Wide Standards. The role will require the successful candidate to work in partnership with a wide variety of Stakeholders across Business Units, Second and Third Lines of Defence. The role offers the successful candidate opportunities to challenge and influence outcomes to further enhance Barclays.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide guidance, support and independent assurance to Leadership in the remediation of controls, confirming whether they have been effectively designed, can be evidenced as operating effectively and are embedded
  • Meet the needs of key internal and external risk processes, reporting schedules, stakeholders and regulatory authorities in delivering assurance activities.
  • Evaluate, report and escalate risks in line with Barclays risk and control frameworks.
  • Provide an opinion as to whether risks have been fully mitigated and whether implemented controls are sustainable.
  • Conduct risk assignments in line with Barclays Policies and Standards, associated tools / methods and quality levels ensuring compliance to Operational Risk framework(s) and emerging requirements.
  • Contribute to the continued evolvement and embedding of the target operating model for the Issue Closure Assurance team.
  • Proactively manage Stakeholder expectations to promote an understanding and achievement of risk management objectives, ensuring awareness of responsibilities regarding risk and control.

What we're looking for:

  • Knowledge of business or technology risk and control including relevant tools and techniques
  • Proven experience of working within the finance industry / business or technology control frameworks and approaches
  • Experience in one or more of the following - audit, Risk and Control, IT Security
  • Strong knowledge of key areas in business or technology risk, including operations, change, security, resilience at both application and infrastructure layers

Skills that will help you in the Role:

  • Business/IT degree or equivalent
  • Specialist Risk Qualification - formal accreditation/qualifications relating to audit, risk and control e.g. CISA, CISSP, CISM, ITIL etc.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with a methodical approach, sound judgement and close attention to detail
  • Problem solving - ability to think unconventionally and find solutions to unstructured problems
  • Ability to network and establish rapport with internal colleagues across global teams
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate difficult or complex ideas clearly and constructively
  • Collaborative, able to drive agreement across varying stakeholders
  • Confident in negotiating and influencing colleagues or stakeholders
  • Self-starter
