Position Description
This management position is within the Investor Services business unit of the State Street Alternative Investment Services Group.
This is clearly a leadership role – VPs are expected to work for team’s interest as well as for the client. Conscious effort is expected to create excellent working environment where talents are nurtured and status que is challenged. Should be able to maintain flexibility between strategic contributor & managing the executors role.
VPs interact with all levels of professionals both internally and externally -therefore, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are required. Candidates must demonstrate initiative, be able to perform under pressure and simultaneously handle multiple assignments. VPs are responsible to direct the day-to-day Investor Services operations for several client sponsored hedge funds & private equities.
Main Responsibilities:
i) Leading Operations
Team is responsible for financial transaction processing (subscription, redemption, transfer, switches, redemption wire payment, expense wire payment, distribution wire payment) and non-financial activities (new investor creation, contact creation, static data maintenance, statement distribution, audit confirm creation, responding to investor / client queries, multiple time bound projects) both maker and checker. Ensuring seamless service delivery is one of the key objectiveClient / investor query resolving – taking initiative to own all types of client & investor communication – emails & telephonic. Candidate should have SME knowledge to support team with complex query from clientSME knowledge is also required to perform certain tasks that are allowed only for VPs – fund rule amendment, new fund set up approval, etc.VPs are also expected to look out for transformational opportunity to make department efficient and create better experience for clientsPeople focused – clear strategy to motivate top talent and create growth opportunities for staffs with potentialVPs are the owner of budget for their respective teams – ensuring all budgeted transitions are completed on time within estimated costs are very importantClear strategy on compensation planning for teamCoordinate with auditors internal and external to meet deadlines and requirementsEnsure all internal controls and compliance procedures are properly implementedTo escalate and discuss issues as required ii) Service Delivery & Service Quality
Adhere to State Street Alternative Investment Solutions (AIS) strict internal control proceduresAny trend in defects are to be analyzed and risk mitigation through adequate planning / executionSome remedial action plans require to be reported to regulators – timely implementation is the keyClear concept of suspicious transaction monitoring – VPs are expected to ensure staffs are trained to report such transactions through agreed process iii) People Management
Candidate is expected to handle large team – clear strategy for communication, engagement, career development, staff retention are expectedShould respect social style of each stakeholders and use own social style to the advantage of the teamCoordinate performance planning process including goal setting, regular and immediate feedback and submission of formalized performance appraisals on designated staffLead by example and support employee development and growth iv) Other Responsibilities
Representing India team in the global forumsCoordinate and manage special client and corporate projectsTake active part in global transformational projects The VP interacts with all levels of professionals both internally and externally. A strong foundation with communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Candidates with the following attributes, skills and experience are preferred:
Proactive – self starter Ability to multi–task and work under time constraints without compromising on qualityCandidate should be open to work in European and North American shift hours as needed by the businessAbility to attend conference calls during non-local business hoursMS office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, PowerBI, SharePoint)Proven track record of innovation (knowledge of VBA and advanced excel skills would be beneficial) Prior experience of building large team and hands on experience on migrationsFluency in writing and speaking English Academy and experience required:
