Freelance Accountant

Located on Venice Beach, Wonder Sciences is a revolutionary start-up pioneering telemedicine and innovative therapies to improve the treatment of people’s anxiety and depression. The Wonder Sciences team is led by a visionary entrepreneur, whose past business endeavors include founding and managing $100 million companies. 

As a Freelance Accountant, you will jumpstart and maintain the financial upkeep of Wonder Sciences as we continue to grow. You will directly fuel the expansion of Wonder Sciences and empower people to maximize their potential through alternative medicines and innovative treatments. This unique opportunity will provide you with high-impact and interesting work, professional growth, and an exciting work environment.

What You Can Expect:

• Establish and lead various accounting processes, including general bookkeeping, the integration of an employee payroll system, and the filing of employee tax forms
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare reports and keep detailed records
• Review Wonder Sciences' financial standing and help adjust marketing and business strategies accordingly
• Communicate your ideas and collaborate with senior leadership to establish sound accounting processes that incorporate the needs of Wonder Sciences
• Deliver informative updates that summarize your work for the rest of the Wonder Sciences team
• Manage the creation and scaling of the Wonder Sciences Accounting Department
• Join a growing team and play a critical role in the operation and success of Wonder Sciences

What We’re Looking For:

• You are currently based in Los Angeles or the Greater Los Angeles area
• You have a passion for alternative medicines and helping people
• You hold an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and have at least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or a related discipline
• You have at least 5 years of experience in public accounting and/or a private industry
• You have a firm understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and best accounting practices for start-ups
• You have excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
• You can perform work independently and in a virtual team environment
