Main Purpose:
This role is responsible for assisting the Group Finance Manager in managing financial accounting processes for various entities in the Canopius Group, and to ensure the timely delivery of complete and accurate financial information for these entities. This role can provide the opportunity to continue with study for an accounting qualification including study and exam support.
Main Responsibilities:
Deliver High Quality Information:
Working as part of the Group Finance team, this role is responsible for:
Producing quarterly income statements, balance sheets and related disclosures for the Group's non-technical entities;
Consolidating the Group's syndicates, overseas entities and non-technical entities into the Group's quarterly consolidated reporting;
Producing analysis and insight to specific areas of the financial results;
Investigating and analysing issues that arise, providing summaries and recommendations to the Group Finance Manager;
Assisting the external reporting and FP&A teams in understanding the entity and consolidated Group performance and financial position;
Maintaining a robust control environment over financial reporting processes and co-ordinating the completion of key reporting controls;
Providing oversight and review to offshore bookkeeping processes, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations and reporting;
Act as a point of contact for the external auditors.

Maintaining personal and professional development.

Developing and fostering a culture of continuous improvement of financial reporting processes and controls for effective and efficient reporting and auditing
Develops and enhances relationships:
Work collaboratively with other teams in the resolutions of queries, problems and in the improvement of team functioning
Building strong relationships with other stakeholders within UK and overseas Finance teams
Develop a good working relationship with WNS (outsourced financial service provider), ensuring delivery and fostering a collaborative culture
Skills and Experience:
- Part qualified accountant beneficial
- Strong mathematical skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel
- Insurance business experience beneficial
- Good understanding of balance sheet and process controls
- Attention to detail and focused on the delivery of high quality work
- Able to work collaboratively with others to solve problems
