Position Summary:

Working within Thermo Fisher Scientific's Speciality Diagnostic Group, within the Microbiology Division (MBD), the role is an exciting opportunity to build a career in a growing, impactful organization with a strong focus on financial talent development.

Reporting to the Finance Director, FP&A, the senior financial analyst's key responsibility is to develop, refine and help drive the global Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and reporting activities for the Microbiology Division.

The successful candidate will focus on standardization and process improvement, and work closely with cross-functional finance peers to help drive results across all areas of the business and well as accurate and timely reporting to the Group and Corporate Finance teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly P&L flashes and reports, in order to provide insightful commentary on the division's results
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes: Drive accurate forecasting through the consolidation of monthly P&L and cash flow outlooks, and underlying analytics
  • Partner with global functional finance teams (commercial, manufacturing/supply chain operations, SG&A and R&D), group and corporate FP&A to drive data integrity, timely and accurate management reporting for internal and external submissions capturing and communicating business results, variances and performance trends.
  • Coordinate and prepare monthly and quarterly business review decks with divisional and corporate leadership
  • Develop tools and processes driving continuous improvement in financial data and analytics
  • Subject matter expert for finance and management reporting systems with a focus on Hyperion / CMR, and represent Microbiology Division in company-wide systems implementation projects
  • Provide financial partnering support for Practical Process Improvement (PPI) projects driving cost savings and efficiency gains
  • Drive best practice through the Finance function, ensuring standardized approaches to reporting and processes
  • Support FP&A director and leadership team with ad-hoc analysis and special projects


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • Work experience in FP&A / controlling roles and familiar with US GAAP
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen, flexible and curious, able to develop financial insight in disruptive environments
  • Interpersonal, organization and motivational skills
  • Results and continuous improvement driven
  • Good communication skills, ability to adapt to stakeholders of diversified backgrounds and levels; fluency in English required
  • Experience with complex matrix / global organizations
  • IT Skills: Microsoft Office with advanced Excel, Hyperion and SAP would be advantageous
  • Occasionaltravels to Basingstoke required
