To assume full responsibility for Financial planning, analysis and control of the operations of the Company ensuring that the annual business plan and budget of the Company are successfully achieved.
As Finance Manager, you will bring to the attention of the General Manager all significant matters of financial importance.
In addition, you shall take on the responsibility of ensuring that all transactions are accounted for correctly, effectively handle the treasury function and provide periodic meaningful information to the business to facilitate it's efficient functioning. As part of your role, you will, in addition to administering the ‘order to collection' cycle, also liaise with internal / external auditors, the Bankers and the Tax authorities, where relevant.
Key Accountability 1: Functional
1. Financial Organization - Take an active role in all areas of the business and establish the effective presence of the financial organization within the Company.
2. Follow-up procedures - Develop necessary follow-up procedures to ensure agreed actions are implemented and are sufficient to ensure the achievement of business goals.
3. Systems and Processes - Ensure that adequate systems and processes are developed and implemented to provide for the necessary control of the business
4. Business Advisor - As business adviser, take independent positions and provide objective advice to the General Manager. Review and appraise all business and functional plans and programs including acquisitions
5. Company Conscience - As the company conscience within the Management structure, ensure that all policies are adhered to and the financial integrity is maintained
6. Accuracy & Consistency - Be responsible for the accuracy of the financial results to ensure that they are consistent with local legal requirements and within the purview of the International Accounting Standards
7. Leadership - Provide the necessary leadership and management of the Finance function by ensuring the development and implementation of functional objectives at all levels on an annual basis and provide for the effective selection, training and development of Finance personnel

8. Audit - Ensure that the External and Internal Audits are completed on time and clear action plans are aligned with all parties concerned on any observations made.
9. Internal Control - Facilitate the achievement of common business goals and objectives without compromising on internal controls
10. Working Capital Management - To ensure proper control measures are put in place and adhere to the budgeted stock debtors and creditors.
Key Accountability 2: People Management
1. Manage and oversee team performance through performance planning, coaching and performance appraisals. Developing and implementing training to enhance understanding of accounting requirements and develop employee skills
2. Hold direct reports accountable for managing and developing their assignments to ensure the department's goals are achieved and customers satisfied.
3. Provide ongoing feedback to the team to ensure they develop the skills and competencies required for effective planning and individual professional and personal career growth.
4. Motivate and inspire the team by providing them with the information and tools they need to do their jobs well and meet customer expectations.
5. Deal with performance issues, discipline as necessary and address poor standards, ensuring department targets and customer satisfaction is not compromised.
6. Encourage strong teamwork across the finance department ensuring transfer of best practice amongst them.
7. Manage the head count, recruiting and deploying resources as required, to ensure the department budget is balanced and the right mix of skills and strengths are being leveraged as effectively as possible.
