Michael Page Tax are working exclusively on a newly created, Tax Accountant position. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to take responsibility for Metropolitan Housing tax affairs. The position will develop your technical tax knowledge and over time allow you to partner with the business to provide tax strategy and advice, working with a range of key internal and external stakeholders.

Description
The role serves to ensure compliance with a variety of tax legislation and maximisation of tax recovery. This will involve working closely with the Senior Financial Accountant and Group Financial Controller to ensure Metropolitan's Tax returns are accurate and compliant across the business.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Making notification, filing returns and making payments for: corporation tax; trust income tax, Construction Industry Scheme, Value Added Tax, SDLT
- Checking the company's compliance on any new tax issues, such as ATED, new rules on corporate interest cost, gift aid;
- Work with the Development accountant to provide holistic tax advice for development projects, seeking external professional advice if necessary;
- Keeping the Option to tax and Capital Goods Scheme registers up to date;
- Accounting for tax charges, tax assets & liabilities and gift aid correctly on the financial ledger; and
- Highlighting any newly arising tax issues to increase corporate awareness on taxation.
Profile
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and commercial acumen.
There will be a strong focus on the candidates cultural fit as the Senior Management work hard to ensure there is a genuinely collaborative culture, where diversity and knowledge sharing are encouraged.
The following criteria are desirable but not essential:
- Professional qualifications (Part or Fully Qualified): ATT, CTA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent
- Experience in the Housing, Construction or Property sectors
