Our client, a well known Public Sector organisation, requires a part-time Accountant for an initial 2 month period. 2 days/week equivalent - Flexible on hours - eg could be spread over 4 half days Salary £120 - £145 per day based on PAYE Based from home due to COVID-19 restrictions but on a return to office working will be based in Glasgow. No line management responsibilities Reporting to Director of Corporate Services and key links with rest of Finance team
Purpose of Role: To lead initial stages of preparation of the 2020/21 Annual Accounts.
Main Duties Undertake key tasks associated with External Audit of 2020/21 Lead updates to accounting policies Lead draft Governance Statement for 2020/21 Annual Accounts Lead high level medium-term financial projections for organization, producing brief report for Executive and/or Board Other tasks as may be required within the finance teamKey Skills and Requirements: Experience of preparing and presenting statutory accounts, budgets and forecasts Ability to review, apply and implement changes in accounting standards and guidance to an organisation Working knowledge of financial systems including nominal ledger coding structures Experience of month-end processes including Trial Balance, variance analysis and reconciliations Able to extract data from finance systems for reporting purposes Experience of working within a finance unit in a public sector environment (ideally NDPB) preferable Experience of developing, writing and implementing policies Strong technical accountant with knowledge of accounting standards Excellent understanding and ability to interrogate finance systems Articulate with excellent interpersonal skills, including good written skills Ability to translate and apply technical information for a variety of audiences Ability to meet deadlines Excellent Excel skills Knowledge and understanding of Scottish Public Finance Manual (SPFM) and Financial Reporting Manual (FReM) is desirable Ability to use technical software to interact with a systems and produce reports Part Qualified Accountant but Qualified Accountant with membership of a CCAB accountancy body would be desirable
