MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications for the El Paso Electric Summer College Program include the following.All requirements must be met.
Currently enrolled as a Full-Time Student (Undergraduate - 12 hours, Graduate - 9 hours) and taking classes
Students must have an overall G.P.A of 3.0 or above.
Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must have a valid Driver's License.
Students must meet all of the above requirements to be considered for this program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under the general supervision of the Director-Financial and Energy Accounting and the direct supervision of the Supervisor-Financial Accounting, the intern is responsible for performing various non-routine professional financial accounting functions to include (i) the preparation of internal and external financial reports and statements; (ii) financial analysis and account reconciliations; and (iii) support in month-end close process.

Transportation and housing will not be provided to program participants. If needed, participants will be responsible for expenses related to parking depending upon their assigned work location.

- Must be classified as a Junior, Senior or Graduate student
- Students must be currently enrolled at the time of application and taking classes in an accredited college or university in the United Sates.
- College seniors may apply for the program and participate immediately after graduation, but must be enrolled in school at the time of their interview.
- Individuals who have taken college courses, but are currently taking "time off" from school are ineligible.
- Students must be in "good standing" with their respective university to participate in our program. This includes G.P.A., classification, and number of credit hours earned.
- Schools will be contacted to verify eligibility

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Intern may assist with:
- Perform various non-routine professional financial accounting and reporting functions.
- Analyze financial information and prepare various financial reports and statements.
- Prepare month-end closing journal entries and related reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements, footnotes, schedules, and reconciliations for the various benefit plans for the audit of and filing with the Department of Labor.
- Prepare financial accounting reports for IIF, debt holders, credit rating agencies and other required filings.
- Prepare schedules of the annual FERC Form 1 and quarterly FERC Form 3-Q.
- Prepare work papers and other information provided to the external audit firm for their annual audit, interim and internal control testing.
- Recommend changes to Supervisor on improving methods, procedures, and practices
- Lead and coordinate planning/logistics as a project manager for annual Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative
- Attend and complete mandatory trainings including but not limited to New Employee Orientation, Project Management, Electricity 101, Zodiak, and Smith Driving
- Other duties as assigned that are not included, but are within the context of duties defined.
- Prepare and delivery end of program presentation to department and executives encompassing program experience and learning outcomes.
