Financial Reporting and Audit Senior

The role

A Financial reporting and audit senior will be required to prepare and review financial statements for our Financial Services and Asset Management clients as well as working on Audits for our Multinational clients.

The candidate should therefore have a strong background in audit, as well as in the financial services industry, and understand the challenges and trends which affect both. This dual role offers great variety and allows a candidate work across audit and financial reporting broadening their skills base.

The service delivery demands a combination of rigorous project management with clear communication protocols, technical excellence and a knowledge of shared service centre operating environments. This role will suit an ambitious motivated person who is willing and interested in getting involved with helping the team. It involves working closely with FAAS directors and managers and other senior personnel within Grant Thornton but also with key people from our multinational client base.

Main Responsibilities

  • Audit of companies in the large corporate and multinational sectors;
  • Design and implementation of audit plans;
  • Project management of multi-jurisdictional audits centralised in Ireland;
  • Preparation and review of financial statements for investment funds primarily under IFRS & US GAAP
  • Ensure completion of assignments within appropriate budget and timeframe;
  • Building strong relationships with the team and client representatives;
  • Preparation of accounts and financial statements under IFRS and US GAAP;
  • Liaising with auditors when on financial services assignments;
  • Working with clients to optimise several business functions, this may include projects relating to the financial statement process,
  • Review and remediation of business processes and short-term interim staffing assignments working within a team environment to ensure deadlines are met;
  • Promoting FAAS both internally and externally.

Skills and attributes:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA; ACCA or similar qualification);
  • Strong experience in audit engagements of large companies, multinational entities and complex financial instruments;
  • Experience and knowledge in financial services industry mainly asset management sector through practice;
  • Proficient accountant, with strong knowledge of reporting standards mainly IFRS and US GAAP;
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to funds industry;
  • Experience in a top 20 practice and a diverse portfolio of clients;
  • Strong computer skills – advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications, high proficiency on excel - desirable;
  • Excellent attention to detail and resolves issues as they arise;
  • Strong communicator, highly articulate with good report writing skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to learn quickly and keep abreast of technical developments (particularly IFRS and US GAAP);

  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential SAP, ERP and other financial reporting tools experience – desirable
