The Role Responsibilities
Strategy
- Understand the Bank's strategy for EWST across all relevant Risk types in addition to the Credit Risk focus, particularly Liquidity, Treasury, Market and Operational risks
- Work closely with the key stakeholders to ensure that requirements are in line with the Bank's strategy
- Ensure specified requirements and system changes / enhancements are aligned to the strategy
- Represent the assigned EWST work streams in relevant meetings, such as project working groups
Business
- Cover Credit Risk across the Banking Book, both Retail and Wholesale Credit Risk
- Support the business delivery of the STP for regulatory EWST, including the Bank of England and ICAAP stress tests
- Conduct analysis and requirements which enables the risk infrastructure to be fully compliant with an integrated EWST architecture focused on efficient processes and timely reporting of stress testing results across all relevant Risk types
Processes
- Understand the operational processes impacted by the STP and work closely with the process owners
- Work closely with the business users in understanding and analysing change requirements for EWST infrastructure changes
- Apply industry knowledge and experience and work with delivery teams to identify and recommend solutions for change
- Write detailed business requirements and functional specification documents that effectively articulate business requirements and proposed change
- Work with project stakeholders to gain agreement on the detailed requirements
- Work with the vendors (where applicable) and internal technology teams in facilitating the specifications work
- Provide liaison between the vendors (where applicable) and business users to support the development process
- Plan the required testing ensuring traceability between business requirements and test cases
- Undertake functional testing of the delivered functionality to ensure it meets the requirements and where required document issues and manage to resolution
- Provide specialist support to the business users during UAT
Regulatory & Business Conduct

- Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate
- Strong domain knowledge across different risk types in Banking, particularly Credit or Market Risk
- Strong understanding of financial mathematics and statistics, and the ability to apply them on structural or regression-based PD models
- Ability to derive stressed risk metrics given defined downturn macro-economic variables
- Good knowledge of regulatory stress testing rationale, theory and demands. This includes but is not restricted to the Basel Standards and the various industry stress tests (ICAAP, CCAR etc)
- Good working knowledge of end-to-end risk infrastructure systems architecture, data flows and data models
- 8-10 years of Financial Services experience, as part of a Financial Institution, within an advisory or consulting capacity or in a regulatory body.
- Having worked on projects in the capacity of a senior Business Analyst, as a consultant or from the perspective of a line user
- Broad knowledge of banking products, including derivatives across multiple asset classes, risk management processes and BCBS regulatory principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to create effective working relationships across functions & borders
- Ability to manage a diverse and challenging stakeholder community to deliver change across multiple functions
- Proficient in Excel
- Degree education in a quantitative field (E.G. Finance, Economics, Engineering)
Desirable but not Essential
- Post graduate degree or relevant qualifications (E.G. CFA/FRM/PRM Charter progress)
- Programming knowledge in Python, C# or SAS
- Prior experience within Retail and/or Wholesale Credit Risk
