What will your typical day look like?

As part of the National Finance team, you will form part of the group which is responsible for all payroll processing, pays, compliance, and third-party vendor payments. In this key role you will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Pay close to 10,000 Deloitte professionals accurately and on time every week or month in alignment with current pay cycles.
  • Manage all payroll activities covering transaction processing which covers all inputs and outputs of a payroll process.
  • Manage and supervise a large team of consultants inclusive of their training, development and performance review and management.
  • Review and identify processes and practices that can be streamlined or automated in the transactional environment.
  • Perform quality control audits to ensure accuracy on a select range of transactional processes
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ensure the payroll team follow standard operating processes
  • Ensure the operational manual is maintained and up to date
  • Manage the payroll consultant's workloads to meet deadlines
  • Regular training sessions are scheduled and organised
  • Performance manage and develop careers for your payroll team


About the team

Meet the National Finance team - a multidisciplinary team of accounting and technical experts that essentially keep the company running. From treasury support to payroll services, the National Finance team provides support for firm-wide administrative and accounting functions.

Enough about us, let's talk about you.

You are someone with:
  • Five years or more experience as a payroll manager in a busy team
  • Maturity to comfortably manage the workload and career development for five or more team members
  • Experience working in a high-volume Payroll environment: >10,000 employees
  • Exposure to statutory and regulatory payroll requirements, payments, reconciliations
  • A sound understanding of all legislation that applies in respect to Fair Work, taxation, FBT, WGEA
  • Solid payroll and financial acumen
  • Advanced computer software skills - tier 1 payroll systems; able to talk with the accountants about how payroll postings are reflected in their accounts; and able to use Word and Excel to communicate.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
