Job Purpose
The E-Trading Risk and Controls (ETRC) team is part of the Markets and Securities Services (MSS) COO function. ETRC works closely with each E-Trading Business across MSS, as well as the Second-Line functions. The team is now expanding to the NAM region, and the role will report into the Global Head of ETRC and will require the management of the day-to-day activities of the NAM ETRC team.

The E-Trading Risk and Controls (ETRC) team is part of the Markets and Securities Services (MSS) COO function. ETRC works closely with each E-Trading Business across MSS, as well as the Second-Line functions. The team is now expanding to the NAM region, and the role will report into the Global Head of ETRC and will require the management of the day-to-day activities of the NAM ETRC team.
Key responsibilities of the ETRC team include:
- Real-time monitoring of Citi's algorithmic trading activities for signs of disorderly trading;
- Governance and oversight of E-Trading businesses across MSS, which includes annual attestation/review of key E-Trading documentation, and MiFID II Annual Self-Assessment;
- Co-ordination of Manager Control Assessment
- Project management of key MSS wide E-Trading initiatives and remediation of corrective actions arising from Regulators and Internal Audit.
Key Responsibilities of the NAM Head of ETRC:
- Oversight of the NAM Real-Time Monitoring (RTM) initiative, and review of any escalations to management and second line where necessary. RTM involves monitoring and investigating relevant alerts from trading systems that could indicate signs of disorderly trading.
- Provide expert guidance to the Businesses with respect to the E-Trading Governance framework, and represent ETRC at Product Level Governance forums.
- Oversight and project management of key E-Trading initiatives and remediation of MSS enhancement projects for the NAM region. BAU initiatives include the annual attestation/review of key E-Trading documentation by the Businesses.
- Review of NAM related E-Trading regulatory guidance to ensure compliance.
- Develop and manage key relationships with the NAM E-Trading Businesses (Rates, Global Spread Products and Equities), Technology, Risk and Compliance functions.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the NAM ETRC team.
- Development and coaching of the NAM team.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills: Excellent understanding of Conduct Risk along with full markets trade lifecycle across front office, middle office, back office and control functions and associated infrastructure .
- 10+ years' experience in E-Trading through a controls related role.
- Extensive experience in managing and developing teams.
- Strong product knowledge in at least one of the following asset classes - Equities, Rates, Global Spread Products.
- Knowledge of Standard Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and E-Trading applications preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Extensive knowledge of E-Trading regulation and guidance.
- Tenacious hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance short-term and medium-term remedial action
Qualifications:
- College/university education preferred,
- Circa 10 years' experience in leadership roles with an exceptional track record of delivery.
