Description of Business Unit:

Non-Financial Risk (NFR) consists of Group Operational Risk, Transformation Risk, Group Risk Assurance and the Non-Financial Risk Programme.

The function us responsible for:

  • Leading the effective management of the Group's Non-Financial Risk agenda.
  • Developing Strategies to appropriately mitigate risks to support the Group in achieving its strategic objectives.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to Senior Managers on all matters related to Operational Risk, Transformation Risk, Risk Assurance and Process Management.

The Sourcing Risk Manager role is within the NFR function and will be part of the Sourcing & BCM Risk Team.

Purpose of the Role:

The Sourcing Risk Manager is responsible for providing robust independent oversight, strong and effective challenge and SME advice & guidance across the Group on all matters relating to the management of Sourcing Risk.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Challenge the management of sourcing risk across the Group to ensure it is robust and effective in mitigating the risks identified.
  • Report on the Groups Sourcing Risk appetite on a monthly basis and input to the quarterly Sourcing Risk Profile for submission to the Groups Risk Committees.
  • Support Regulatory engagements related to Sourcing Risk.
  • Review and challenge new supplier proposals and non-objection requests in advance of on-boarding to ensure adherence with the operational risk management requirements of the Group.
  • Provide expert risk advice on all aspects of sourcing risk management to ensure adherence with internal policies, external rules, industry codes and regulatory / stakeholder expectations.
  • Develop and maintain the Sourcing Risk policy standard and guidance and implement a schedule of regular review that ensures policies are kept relevant and aligned to industry expected standards.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Groups Sourcing Risk Management Framework across the Group.
  • Work in conjunction with relevant business stakeholders ensuring the implementation of operational risk policies, standards and procedures to achieve effective mitigation and treatment of Sourcing risk.
  • Define, develop and implement appropriate risk assurance reporting, including key risk indicators.
  • Represent Group Operational Risk through support and influence of staff and management teams on sourcing risk requirements.
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with other Non-Financial Risk teams and Business Stakeholders ensuring information and knowledge sharing.
  • Engage with senior members of the Group Risk function to drive the continued development of the Sourcing Risk Management.

What is the Opportunity?

Reporting directly to the Head of BCM & Sourcing Risk, the Sourcing Risk Manager is a business-critical and high visibility role, with excellent exposure across the Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving and advising on Sourcing Risk matters across the Group Risk and all Lines of Defence. This is an excellent opportunity for a high calibre candidate with commensurate experience.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Risk Management / Business / Financial Serviceswith excellent business acumen.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experienced risk professional with knowledge of sourcing or operational risk.
  • Experience of operating in oversight and challenge capacity.
  • Demonstrated understanding of operational risk regulatory and supervisory requirements.
  • An understanding of sourcing risk and control and the business impacts of these risks, in particular of how they impact from on customer and reputation of the Group.
  • Strong communications skills, proven ability to work effectively with and influence the actions of stakeholders at all levels of the Group.
  • Credibility to influence senior management and the wider internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to understand, identify and pragmatically influence the proportionate, risk based approach to mitigation and monitoring.
  • Independent and decisive with an ability to drive change and challenge the status quo.
  • Strong resilience, drive and focus on implementation excellence.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build highly effective relationships with multiple stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to understand and translate large volumes of data into effective communications.
  • Proactive operating style with ability to identify issues (where possible) before they impact materially upon the business.
