Reporting System and BI Analyst

Reports to: Finance Reporting Controller

Purpose of role 

Drive the transformation of the Finance reporting function to deliver a best in class business intelligence and information management programme for Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of a Finance reporting transformation roadmap to deliver a best in class programme that meets both Business and Finance requirements
  • Responsible for interrogation of cross-functional data available in Teradata to enhance management reporting
  • Responsible for presentation of data using visualisation tools such as Tableau
  • Support and implement technical enhancements of the Cognos TM1 planning solution
  • Support the implementation of Finance report automation, consolidation and pull self service
  • Collaborate with senior management and provide updates on financial reports, progress and modifications
  • Ensure reports are created and aligned to standard style and formatting guidelines
  • Prepare and maintain report templates for more advanced reports, supervise all enhancement and development requests
  • Raise areas for potential improvement with management and drive any changes through
  • Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the data. Support the team in having consistently high levels of service, timely, accurate and insightful, meeting any SLAs and KPIs the Reporting CoE may have
  • Working with key stakeholders identify the key information requirements and translating them into data and BI requirements
  • Work with the BI/Analytics team and technology to successfully deliver solutions that meet the identified requirements and align to the overall BI/Analytics and data strategy.
  • Preparation and formatting of reporting packs to the business as required
  • Work collaboratively across different finance teams, particularly the strategic finance and FP&A teams
  • Liaising with the Finance Systems and BI teams to ensure the database structures and procedures are fit for purpose and reduce manual reporting
  • Essential knowledge, skills and capabilities

  • Excellent statistical analysis skills
  • Expert in the use of large data warehouse such as Teradata
  • Excellent report writing abilities with particular attention to detail
  • Strong planning and organisation skills, ability to plan and prioritise work schedule and work within agreed timescales
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interrogate large data sets and come to sound, logical recommendations & conclusions
  • Expert knowledge of business reporting & BI tools - specifically Microsoft, SQL, Alteryx, reporting tools (Cognos), visualisation tools (Tableau) and warehouse design, with ability to manipulate and draw meaningful analysis and actions from data
  • Previous experience of drawing different datasets together, presenting commercial insights to assist in key business decision making
  • Strong work ethic and ability to understand business requirements and accurately assess any impact on existing systems and processes
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and pro-actively
  • Tech savvy with data mining & predictive modelling skills, an advantage
  • Successful candidates will meet the following criteria

  • Educated to a degree level +
  • 5+ years’ experience delivering best in class insights using Tableau and Teradata or similar
  • A self-starter with a good knowledge of Business Intelligence tools and approaches
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment / retail / FMCG
  • A passion for financial analysis and reporting
  • The ability to produce relevant, coherent, succinct information and reports for all levels of management, including understanding the requirements of Directors
  • A curious data wizard, with evidence of working at an advanced level in Excel, BI and Statistical analysis tools
  • Detail oriented
  • Accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) desirable
