If the above statement resonates with you then please read on.... Our Markham-based client, a leader in the Long Term / Retirement niche is seeking a devoted Manager of Accounting and Financial Reporting as they embark on the next chapter of the organizations growth story.

Working closely with the VP of Finance you will be trusted to lead a team of analysts to continue to drive upward trajectory and process improvements in accounting and reporting functions. This role operates daily with very large volumes of information, so your ability to learn quickly must be high and your desire to work in a changing fast paced environment must be strong. The direct leader and VP Finance fully wants this new person joining the team to move from one of reviewing and doing the work to becoming a true advisor and strategy partner. There's also a fast-track to Directorship available - so you must bring a growth mindset and want to progress your career.

You'll have an opportunity to lead some exciting projects in the first 12 months, including a new system implementation.

Your Mandate:

  • Lead and deliver on all month end processes - producing individual and consolidated financial statements and other reports
  • Manage monthly closings - incl. reconciliation and analysis
  • Develop and maintain integrity of financial reporting process and financial controls
  • Big emphasis on process improvement and continuously examining and enhancing internal controls and processes as they relate to the financial reporting cycle
  • Make recommendations to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Develop financial models
  • Prepare forecasts and reporting tools to identify business opportunities and risks
  • Prep and submit government reporting
  • Communicate your findings and analysis (variance analysis / budget analysis) to key members of the executive team including senior management, lenders and investors
  • Support the budgeting process
  • Be a key member of the new system implementation team


Requirements
  • CPA Designation
  • 4-5 years + of experience
  • Big 4/National / Public Accounting experience is desirable
  • Experience within Long Term Care / Retirement HIGHLY DESIRABLE
  • Quick decision maker
  • Firm yet fair personality
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices and internal controls
  • Able to work in fast paced, complex environment
  • Ability to handle large volumes of data
  • High level of ethics and integrity
  • Excellent communicator
