The role

Commercial Finance Business Partner
Location: Bury St Edmunds

Role Purpose

To provide 'real time' insight and analysis that supports profitable Commercial decision making for the business.

Key Accountabilities

Consistently applies a level of skill and knowledge in all situations in this role at this level
• Understands the strategy of the business and the commercial deliverables which support it
• Interrogates and interprets complex financial transactions and principles, translating them into the drivers of commercial performance.
• Able to evaluate and provide commentary on commercial performance against agreed key performance indicators and to be the first line of sign off for period close, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the result.
• Understands the process for calculating product costings and how to convert this into profitable pricing strategies
• Preparation and analysis of potential pricing scenarios together with recommendations for action
• Assist with commercial budget/forecast setting as part of the wider business process, track ongoing progress and provide regular updated projections of performance as a basis for decision making
• Provide analysis and insight into the short & long term out turn for submission to FP&A, Central Finance etc
• Preparation of various periodic reports (eg, (BRMs, Commercial Team meetings etc)
• Ensures robust financial governance within the commercial and marketing functions together with adherence to the wider Group's policies.
• Review and validate the integrity and accuracy of marketing spend reporting.
• Proactively work with the Loans Team to ensure approved targets (ROI etc) are achieved
• Understands business streams, the context of their role within the organisation and comprehends the value to other parts of the business
• Participate in commercial project teams as required
• Attend customer/supplier meetings and presentations as required
• Attend commercial and marketing meetings and make presentations as required

Person Specification

Competency Requirements

• Maintains a professional approach at all times

• Possible first experience at line management

Technical / Professional Expertise Required

• Part qualified / qualified AAT, CIMA, ACCA
• Experience of Microsoft Office
• Experience of using Cognos
• Knowledge of Aurora
