As a Finance Associate - Payroll Accounting, you will support the Payroll Accountant in producing the period balance sheet reconciliations for Sainsbury's and Argos Payroll.

It will be your responsibility to deliver balance sheet completion to the agreed strict deadlines as well as ensuring discrepancies are identified and worked through with the relevant team in Payroll.

You will be responsible for the creation of analysis around payroll discrepancies to facilitate continued improvements to the reconciliation as well as improving the controls processes and accounting.

You will support in the creation of balance sheet budgets and Q2F

Development Opportunities include:

Gain exposure and understanding of the Payroll impact on P&L

Develop stakeholder relations within Payroll, HR and Group Finance

Developing an understanding of the financial controls required

What I need to do

• Reconciliation of 80 balance sheets to agreed deadline

• Liaise with the relevant teams to clear discrepancies

• Identify any risks that may impact P&L and escalate through the appropriate channels

• Update and maintain the balance sheet bibles and process notes

• Create analytical reports used by relevant stakeholders in Group Finance and Payroll

• Be proactive and work independently to said targets and ensure that controls are adhered to

• Maintain consistent, effective working relationships with stakeholders

• Assist with budget submission and latest view commentary

• Complete audit actions in a timely manner

• Assist with adhoc projects

• Ability to liaise and create strong working relationships with relevant business areas within Finance Operations, the broader Finance division and Payroll

• Strong reconciliation skills

• Understanding of balance sheets and the possible impact on P&L

• Organised, proactive and can do attitude.

• A desire to understand the end to end business processes
