Purpose of the role

The Global Long-Term Alpha Fund (GLAF) is a Cayman long short fund which has been seed funded for two years with very good fund performance. The role will initially be part of the project team to establish and commercialise this fund. The role will transition to daily management of the LS fund, working closely with the LS Fund Analyst reporting into the Head of LS Operations.

As the LS Fund Accountant, you will work closely with the Fund Administrator (MUFG), the middle Office (BNP) and the Prime Brokers to ensure all positions are correctly reflected in AMP Capital systems. This covers all operational activities across trade settlement, NAV valuation, reconciliations and provision of daily returns and reporting for Portfolio Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role is responsible for all accounting related matters in relation to the Long Short Fund, including
    • Monitor and maintain the hedge fund accounts
    • Daily transactions, including swaps, FX, Corporate actions and OTC derivatives
    • Oversight of independent valuations, checking the calculation the value of the fund's assets (net asset value and gross asset value) and analyse it according to the market value
    • Monitor the total amount of money flow in the fund and of the investment portfolios
    • Analyse the fund performance
    • Oversight of reconciliations between prime brokers and registry
    • Oversight of monthly applications & redemptions
    • Prepare monthly reporting on the hedge fund account
    • Prepare financial statements and help to structure the Profit and Loss Statement
  • Support the Head of LS Operations with internal & external stakeholder relationships
  • Ensure efficient delivery of assigned work
  • Actively contribute to the continuous assessment to ensure that the Alternatives Operations team operates within the best in class control environment

Knowledge and experience
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in Fund Accounting for Hedge Funds
  • Knowledge of hedge fund and accounting principles
  • Aware of the latest market and industry (domestic and international) news relating to hedge fund
  • Aware of the regulatory and accounting principles and practices
  • Ideal candidate should have deep subject matter expertise in Hedge Funds
  • Experience with Cayman domiciled funds
