Based in Akron, OH, the Accounting Manager ensures the proper administration of the company resources in order to achieve the financial goals established by the Corporation. In this role, the Accounting Manager will use good accounting practices and financial controls to support operations in the daily tasks required to do business. The Accounting Manager will proactively identify and monitor the key financial metrics and will keep operations informed about the results of such metrics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop proper internal controls to ensure safeguarding of company assets and adherence to financial policies including segregation of duties.
  • Responsible for closing the ERP accounting modules and maintaining system setup, including chart of accounts and accounting tables.
  • Ensures the monthly closing process is complete for all areas of finance (AR, AP, GL).
  • Responsible for oversight of daily activities accounting activities, including banking (daily cash activities), AR (collections/new accounts), AP (processing payments, collecting discounts) and general accounting (intercompany transactions, fixed assets, capital projects, procurement).
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of employees, including personnel requirements, selection, training of team.
  • Responsible for various month end processes including reconciliations, analysis and issue resolution.
  • Responsible for comprehensive internal/audit preparation and working closely with the auditors to facilitate timely and accurate completion of the audit process.
  • Working with engineering and manufacturing on developing product costs, including developing standard costs.
  • Performs product cost planning and tracking, including monthly variance analysis.
  • Prepares weekly invoicing report for the site and the consolidation report.
  • Create financial reports for end users for specific information (Inventory reports, Sales analysis, etc).
  • Responsible for inventory reporting and reconciliation of stock status.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses and reports as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of accounting principles, practices, procedures and controls.
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven project management skills for multi-site/global company.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate with all levels of staff and operate with a high degree of independence and initiative.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Cost accounting background in a manufacturing facility.
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Masters Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in finance or accounting.
  • Prior audit experience a plus.
