Job Duties
Responsibilities
As the Coding Auditor and Trainer for our Medical Group, you will be responsible for:
• Coding diagnosis and procedures for assigned cases
• Training physicians and other coders on new and existing CPT and ICD10 guidelines
• Continuously obtaining and utilizing knowledge of UCLA, AHA-Coding Clinic, CMS, and AMA CPT Assistant guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathological basis of disease to analyze proper coding of documented treatment and procedures
• Assigning correct coding for patient accounts to assure accurate reimbursement and highest quality data possible
• Abstract all coded data in a timely and accurate manner
• Assist in orientation and training of new employees

Qualifications
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with:
• A Certified Professional Coding (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification
• Minimum of 2 years certification and experience with inpatient acute care coding and outpatient surgical/ambulatory care coding
• Extensive knowledge and experience in interpretation of insurance carrier guidelines, coding regulatory requirements, and physician education preferred
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding with excellent working knowledge of DRG and APC payment methodologies, AHA Coding Clinic and CPT assistant
• EPIC experience preferred
• Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and with a team. Ideal candidate must be able to multiple projects and tasks effectively
