This is an exciting time to join a successful Finance team at Birmingham City University as one of our Finance Assistants. The role offers an opportunity to work within a busy Financial Operations team and add value to the Payables or Treasury functions.

Based at our City Centre campus but working from home during these difficult times, these roles are reporting to the team leader of each respective team. You will be providing operational and transactional support to finance staff, the wider University community and more importantly - our customers and suppliers.

As a Finance Assistant you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient recording of transactions in line with agreed transactional KPI's.

You will also support the delivery of a quality and timely customer service for the users of the Financial Operations service.

You will be responsible for the resolution and response to queries and issues presented by finance colleagues, University staff and key external stakeholders in a timely and customer-focused manner and you will provide support for the accurate and timely delivery of Finance month-end activities including preparation of nominal account reconciliations for review.

  • You are looking to study towards AAT or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • You will have a good standard of literacy and numeracy equivalent to GCSE English and Maths.
  • You will have 12 months experience within a Finance and/or customer service environment.
  • You will have excellent IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • You will have knowledge and experience of financial administration procedures and systems.
  • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You must be able to demonstrate an organised approach to work and an ability to prioritise different tasks.
