General Position description –Definition:

The Manage Hydrocarbon Inventory (MHI) process extends across many steps in the lifecycle of hydrocarbon stock within the Shell Group - from recording contracts for purchases and sales of stock in our systems (contracts and pricing team responsibilities), recording stock movements, stock reconciliations, invoicing for stock sales and payments for stock purchases, through to stock valuation. MHI forms part of the wider Hydrocarbon Management process which has been identified as one of the five key processes on which Group will focus in order to improve further its competitive position and close the value gap.

The MHI processes undertaken in Krakow support a number of Downstream businesses, principally Trading & Supply, but also Aviation, Bitumen, Lubes and Chemicals and Gas & Power business.

Position description – Purpose:

Involvement in HC processes – HM Settlements & Valuation with the possibility to develop in other MHI sub-processes.

Position description – Accountabilities:

  1. Performing standard accounting related activities:
    • To ensure correct invoice/PO matching, VAT distribution
    • To have a good understanding of the vendor set-up and payment process to ensure vendors are paid 'first time'
    • To manage and answer vendor queries in an organized and prompt manner
    • accruals preparation & reversal
    • work to achieve weekly and monthly team goal/ KPI
    • To review and action balances of AP accounts
    • Contract & Pricing activities
  2. Support increasing process automation and efficiency
  3. Resolve process issues with help of other teams, both within and outside Finance as well as with support from Process Experts
  4. Taking part in operational calls
  5. Maintain business knowledge to ensure business requirements are appropriately assimilated into functional process designs
  6. Support and advocate efforts of continuous improvement
  7. Ensure appropriate process documentation, roles and procedures
  8. Comprehensive change management effort including stakeholder management, change analysis, impact assessment, readiness assessment, training, communications, acceptance assessment and corrective action
  9. Promote and facilitate sharing and adoption of process management best practice; provide training as needed (sessions with Process Owner, Cross Process Area Management forums, Process Area Councils, other training sessions etc.)
  10. Managing and meeting multiply deadlines
  11. Motivate staff across all grade levels to the use of best practices in the process area

Experience and Qualifications required:

  • University degree, preferably in economic, accounting or finance area or equivalent accounting courses
  • At least 1 year of experience in relevant accounting environment
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
  • Knowledge of SAP accounting system is desirable
  • Business level English (written and oral) is a must
  • German language B2 would be a strong asset
