WHAT YOU'LL DO

The position is a member of the Global Accounting and Control ("GAC") team under the direction of the Global Accounting Director and the Global Finance Director & Corporate Controller. The GAC team has various responsibilities including consolidating and reporting BCG's financial information on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. In addition, GAC is responsible for establishing and communicating various accounting policies and procedures globally. The team is responsible for the dissemination of meaningful and accurate financial information on a consolidated basis, as well as on an individual affiliate office basis.

The position is a highly visible role within the global finance organization. The position is responsible for the accounting and reporting of BCG's external consolidated financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and internal management reporting. The position will focus on preparation and review of the global consolidated financial statements, marketable investments, employee-benefit plans and pension plans, and corporate accounting matters related to elimination of intercompany activity, dividends etc. The position will also have the responsibility for assisting the GAC Senior Manager and other key stakeholders within GAC on several ad-hoc reporting, requests and analysis and provide assistance on complex global and local technical accounting matters under US GAAP and IFRS.

The candidate will be a critical resource for the Global Accounting Director and the Global Finance Director & Corporate Controller as well as leaders of other teams within GAC including Global Investments, Consolidations, Accounting and Reporting (GICAR), Managing Partner & Director Accounting (MDP), Revenue Accounting, and Accounting Systems Operations Group (ASOG). The candidate with also work closely with teams within other functions in Global Finance including Tax, Treasury, Financial Systems, Global Field Operations and Financial Planning & Analysis.

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • 6+ years of accounting-related work experience, including US GAAP accounting, management and financial reporting,
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required,
  • CPA/CA status is strongly preferred, MBA is a plus
  • Previous experience working in a major public accounting firm is preferred
  • Previous working experience at a large multinational company within a multi- currency environment, where foreign operations represent a significant portion of consolidated results is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, specifically in the areas of investments and pension/employee-benefit plan accounting
  • The ability to operate at a "high level" as well as a "detailed level"
  • Sound analytical and reporting skills; ability to understand complicated topics, apply critical thinking, apply judgment and make decisions
  • Good management judgment, flexibility, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; comfortable interacting with peer group, senior leadership and third-party service providers
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple changing priorities along with day-to-day responsibilities
  • Strong work ethics, professional attitude and reliability
  • Experience using Oracle based accounting systems including Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Oracle 12R, Oracle Smart View and Oracle Financials is a plus. Knowledge of SAP Business Objects or other comparable systems is a plus
  • Advanced computer literacy (use of Windows and corresponding software applications including PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
  • Travel may be required occasionally

YOU'RE GOOD AT

  • Participate in the preparation of BCG's annual consolidated financial statements, including the preparation and review of the financial statement footnotes in accordance with the applicable accounting standards
  • Participate and assist in the preparation of year end executive presentations summarizing the status and review of the global audit
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of BCG's financial reporting including the financial metrics and the consolidated US GAAP financial statements, as well as key performance metrics and business drivers
  • Perform centralized monthly & quarterly compliance checks for US GAAP & Other Income/Expense reporting
  • Prepare quarterly global fluctuation analyses and reporting packages
  • Review affiliate entity financial statements requiring global director approval (e.g., perform tie out to HFM, understand and reconciling differences, etc.)
  • Support GAC team on external audit requests
  • Review segregation of duties access by user and ledger
  • Monitor external disclosures mailbox and respond to low risk requests (e.g., prepare and send CFO disclosure letters)
  • Escalate more complex external disclosure requests for consideration by GAC
  • Be a constant source of support and trusted partner to a pre-defined number of local office accounting teams assisting with the interpretation and application of global accounting policies and resolving (and/or appropriately delegating to more experienced team members) technical and operational accounting queries of local offices. Furthermore, assisting the GAC team members with the review of a pre-defined number of local office monthly reporting packages to ensure compliance with BCG's accounting policies; ensuring accurate & timely submission of data within BCG systems, analyzing actual results compared to forecasts and prior year results, ensuring high quality of commentary on monthly financial statements from local offices and using varying analytical techniques and a questioning mindset to ensure monthly reported results are materially accurately stated
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and reporting processes for the Company's portfolio of marketable securities and pension accounts including preparation of HFM journal entries
  • Reconcile pension accounting schedules, review third party actuary reports, and manage coordinating checkpoints with affiliate offices throughout the year
  • Assist with updating historical exchange rates and historical balances for equity balance conversions
  • Prepare and maintain equity rollforward to ensure equity balances are translated using correct historical exchange rates
  • Analyze and record calculation of interest on cash sweep transactions for numerous Holding entities
  • Maintain accurate and current process documentation of Corporate Accounting tasks (SLAs)
  • Maintain onboarding plan and help manage co-op's workload and development (new co-op semi-annually). Assign project work and review workload for Co-Ops; establishing goals that will increase knowledge and skill levels, and by delegating tasks commensurate with skill level.
  • Assist with preparation, tracking & system validation of HFM journal entries
  • Monitor the Finance Minimum Standard reconciliation mailbox
  • Assist with review and tracking of Finance Minimum Standard reconciliations received from affiliate offices
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and streamlining in existing activities, make recommendations on improvements and lead implementation
  • Performing other duties as assigned or required

GAC team members come from a wide variety of professional and cultural backgrounds. You will spend a considerable amount of time working with other teams within GAC including Managing Partner & Director Accounting (MDP), Revenue Accounting, and Accounting Systems Operations Group (ASOG). The candidate with also work closely with local accounting/finance teams across the world and with teams within other functions in Global Finance including Tax, Treasury, Financial Systems, Global Field Operations and Financial Planning & Analysis.
