Financial Accountant
  • Annual Salary Range: VPS4$87,640 - $99,438 excluding superannuation
  • Tenure: Fixed Term Position for 12 months

  • Usual Work Location: Melbourne CBD (including remote working as required)

About the Team

The Finance team is responsible for assisting the Victorian Fisheries Authority's (VFA) to produce financial accounts and transactions that are accurate and are consistent with guiding frameworks.

About the Opportunity
  • Support the Senior Financial Accountant to deliver the VFA's Annual financial statements in accordance with the Financial Management Act, the Ministerial Standing Directions and the Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Perform duties that underpin the successful delivery of the annual financial statements including monthly account and journal processes, variance analysis and the ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial transactions.
  • Support the Senior Financial Accountant through both the external audit and internal audit processes including resolution of audit findings.
  • Use formal and informal channels to develop professional and productive relationships
  • Assist with asset management activities including the development, implementation of a management information system.
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of the Authority's compliance framework.
  • Provide responsive advice to VFA staff on financial policies and procedures.
  • Contribute ideas toward improving the effectiveness of business processes and financial systems.

About You

  • Demonstration in preparing monthly account reconciliations and notes to annual financial statements.
