We provide our client audit engagement teams with technical advice on accounting and financial reporting requirements to enable them deliver high quality services to their clients. We also play a significant role within the firm’s EMEIA and Global IFRS thought leadership networks.

The opportunity

We are recruiting Managers and Senior Managers to join our team of financial reporting specialists Ireland and the UK. We and our clients are going through a period of significant change in corporate reporting and regulation and our Financial Reporting Group is at the leading edge of helping our clients and teams manage these changes.

You will have the opportunity to address complex and demanding accounting technical issues and work closely with colleagues who are recognised globally within the firm as specialists in their respective areas. As a result, this role offers great opportunities for your own learning and development.

Your key responsibilities: 

  • Perform pre-issuance reviews of the financial statements of our listed and quoted audit clients
  • Provide advice and support to audit teams on accounting technical issues under IFRS & Irish GAAP
  • Support our Professional Practice Group in the operation of the Professional Standards Panel and Consultation processes
  • Develop and deliver high quality technical training for our people in audit
  • Develop Irish GAAP and IFRS thought leadership materials
  • Be involved in the firm’s EMEIA and Global technical accounting subject matter groups
  • Execute work efficiently, delivering excellent service and bringing the full breadth of EY's capability to support our clients
  • Adhere to and enforce the firm's risk management policies and quality agenda
  • Effectively support the assurance process with appropriate consideration of risk issues and accounting technical matters
  • Demonstrate expertise in primary accounting frameworks (Irish GAAP or IFRS) and in related financial reporting matters
  • Coach and develop teams in technical accounting matter
  • Be pro-active in identifying and driving forward initiatives which make a difference either internally and/or to our clients

To qualify for the role you must have: 

  • Extensive knowledge of reporting under Irish GAAP, IFRS, Irish regulations and Irish company law
  • Understanding of the reporting requirements for Irish securities markets
  • Experience in providing accounting technical advice to clients and colleagues
  • Ability to present technical and complex issues to colleagues and clients in a clear and concise manner
  • Honours degree qualified (or equivalent)
  • ICAI/ACCA (or equivalent international qualification)

Ideally, you’ll also have: 

  • External Audit Experience
  • Understanding of the reporting requirements for Irish securities markets
