To achieve this ambitious development, we're looking for a Senior Finance Manager to support our newly created Commercial Manufacturing Organization (CMO) in Swindon, UK. This new cross-functional unit will be at the forefront of the Covid-19 pandemic challenge and will produce of one of the most promising vaccine candidates. The position reports into the site Finance Director with a strong dotted line into the CMO Business Leader & will command a significant level of visibility both at Divisional and Global levels, given the high relevance of this project for the entire Group.

The spin-off nature of this start-up project requires an entrepreneurial mindset with a strong level of energy & the executional capabilities of a self-starter and also the ability to work across the matrix in order to secure the allocation of shared resources during the initial scale-up phase, followed by the design and the recruiting of a new team. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with "hands-on" attitude, positive mindset and eagerness to take on a challenging assignment with the potential to provide a significant development and ultimately career acceleration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the General Manager & leadership teams to set and deliver the business plan and meet key operating & financial goals for this new CMO cell within the site.
  • Develop and implement robust financial processes to drive effective decisions.
  • Handle multiple assignments, work flexible hours and cope with the complexity of tracking and managing multiple, disparate moving parts. Candidate will demonstrate expertise in the following areas within a P&L accountable business:
    • Operations Finance
    • Standard costing and variance analysis -Implement appropriate Standard costing principles within the CMO business unit.
    • Financial planning and analysis - Drive improvements and accountability for Gross Margin (Price, Volume Mix, Net Productivity) and Inventory
    • Financial & business development modelling
    • Project management
  • Manage the CMO daily operations as well as the annual budget and multi-year strategic review cycle:
    • Monthly Forecasting
    • Weekly S&OP Finance support
    • Quarterly & Monthly Business Reviews
    • Annual Operating Plan & Strategic multi-year view.
  • Champion and project lead Process Improvement projects within the site, particularly when cross functional leadership is needed.
  • Ensure the site meets the monthly corporate reporting deadlines and comply with local accounting standards and US GAAP.
  • Partner with colleagues within the site and division to drive both functional and business process improvements and productivity projects.
  • Provide performance reporting tools and metrics plus analysis and recommendations to operating management to optimize business results.
  • Assist to develop and model customer deals. Drive and ensure contract compliance.
  • Manage and drive the components of cash flow including capital, inventory, and accounts receivable.
  • Develop analytical models and tools to drive growth initiatives and improve business decisions.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or another relevant background
  • Advanced Qualification (CPA, MBA, or MS) is a plus.
  • 10+ years of relevant Finance work experience with ample exposure to Manufacturing, Operations & PPI/Six Sigma settings.
  • Must have excellent skills with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint & strong knowledge of SAP. Consolidation tools like Hyperion Planning and Sap Analytics Cloud are preferred.
  • Prior career experience in the Pharmaceutical sector is considered a plus but similarly regulated sectors (food, food testing, and diagnostic) are positive as well.
  • Limited travel involved, less than 10% of total time.
  • Proven ability to analyse and communicate variances to management is required to be successful in this position, as well as, the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Strong written communication skills, along with clear and concise verbal skills, are required. The candidate will have the ability to obtain operational buy-in with easy to understand analysis and presentations.
