This role supports our agenda to maintain a strong control environment in M&S Food with the key focus on continuous improvement to support the operational, commercial and financial control framework and promote good governance and compliance within this. You will work within Finance and the wider business in M&S Food to support initiatives and projects that improve the control environment and framework and enable better governance of key activities.

About the role

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Leading key projects that drive control improvement across commercial, supply chain, operations, and finance
  • Constantly challenging existing processes and ways of working and identify areas for improvement
  • Leading the remediation of control deficiencies identified and track implementation of Internal Audit actions and external audit's management letter points
  • Working with the GSCOP Code Compliance Officer to support in compliance monitoring across all relevant business areas
  • Developing, tracking and implementing changes to enhance the supplier experience of working with M&S Food while managing commercial risk
  • Being a key point of contact to support Finance and Non-Finance stakeholders in control management and process improvement
  • Supporting the facilitation of the risk management process to identify, assess and manage key risks to our business and work with risk owners to identify and track mitigating actions to completion
  • Performing controls testing when required

About you

Your skills and experience will include:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Internal audit experience in the retail sector
  • Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills
  • Collaborative approach, with natural style that builds strong network with finance and non-finance colleagues
  • Ability to drive/lead the implementation of new ways of working
  • Confidence in challenging existing processes to identify improvement opportunities
  • Programme management skills
