PURPOSE

Provides state, federal and other required tax preparation support, review and strategy for all legal entities within the Covenant Management Systems, LP and Austin Regional Clinic, PA umbrella through collaboration with the accounting department, Vice President of Finance and external tax consultants. Tax related filings include but not limited to: Ad Valorem, Sales and Use, Patient Centered Outcome Research Institute (PCORI), ERISA (Form 5500), Texas Franchise (Margin), Partnership (Forms 1065 and K-1s) and Corporate (Form 1120). Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists the organization in maintaining compliance with state and federal tax filings and related payments.
  • Completes and ensures that the various federal and state tax return support is prepared accurately and timely.
  • Completes and ensures that the various personal ad valorem tax return support is prepared accurately and timely.
  • Reviews various returns for proper interpretation and application of supporting documentation by the external consultant.
  • Completes and ensures that the various sales and use tax return support and returns are prepared accurately and timely.
  • Reviews the quarterly and annual payroll tax reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Completes and ensures that the estimated federal and state tax payments are prepared accurately and payments are made timely.
  • Assists with and ensures that the year-end reserve review and analysis for the provision and final tax returns are performed accurately.
  • Assists with and ensures that the tax provision and supporting work papers are prepared accurately and timely.
  • Completes and ensures that support for the various book to tax differences are accurately identified and documented.
  • Completes and ensures that the reconciliation of the partnership returns related to investments is performed accurately with appropriate documentation.
  • Maintains the tax preparation and documentation system.
  • Maintains required level of technical knowledge.
  • Keeps abreast of current developments in the various tax areas.
  • Assists in financial planning and analysis.
  • Collaborates with accounting department for continued knowledge of transactions and financial makeup of the various organizations to ensure proper tax treatment.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in any federal and state audit.
  • Collaborates with consultants when necessary on applying latest regulations.
  • Collects and researches data as needed.
  • Other tax projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Required: High school diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. At least five (5) years of tax accounting experience.

Preferred: Experience working in tax accounting for both a large public accounting firm and directly with a company.

Certificate/License

Certified Public Accountant (CPA), required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
