This position, titled as Director for Global Credit Operations Oversight & Strategic initiatives will be responsible providing oversight on Global Credit policies and standards related to Credit Operations across Consumer businesses. In addition, this role will be accountable for leading strategic initiatives for Global Collections & Credit Operations Oversight team within the Global Consumer Independent Risk Management organization.

The Credit Risk Senior Officer II is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Recognized subject matter expert within one area. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Is an acknowledged authority both within and outside area of expertise. Typically a small number of people within the business that provide the same level of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication is typically required. Provides advanced judgment and conducts in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions. Required to think beyond existing solutions, assumptions or current knowledge of sophisticated areas. Significant impact on a function and/or the business through making decisions that determine technical approaches and strategies for the area.

  • Provide oversight, policy exception reviews of relevant Policies and Standards contained in GCCFRP for Credit Operations across consumer businesses.
  • Lead Strategic initiatives for Global Collections & Credit Operations oversight team such as development of next generation of Loss mitigation platform to enhance current capabilities related to loss mitigation programs across all consumer businesses
  • Partner with Independent Risk oversight team along with business risk teams to improve the efficiency of credit processes and adopting of best practices relative to strategies, by providing direction and suggestions while ensuring effectiveness and control elements are not sacrificed.
  • Develop and Manage the minimum standards related to Credit Initiation, Existing Customer Management, Credit Bureau and Dispute Management processes and provide oversight on adherence through annual assessment across businesses.
  • Participate in Global functional working groups in Credit Initiation and Existing Customer Management.
  • Institute and lead focused reviews as needed, within the Credit Operations areas to validate compliance to the policies and identify process gaps if any.
  • Lead training development and deliver for the functional disciplines for Risk, Credit Operations and Business professionals on a global basis.
  • Serve as independent risk point of contact for regulators, internal senior stakeholders (control forums, risk committees) in areas of policy execution.
  • Provide information and counsel to the Head of Global Oversight for Collections and Credit Operations by organizing ongoing monthly review and quarterly CRO reviews.

  • 15+ years financial services experience including credit experience in corporate and commercial bank
  • Regulatory experience or relevant experience in a similar role at another institution is desirable.
  • Fully conversant in credit policy matters
  • Good knowledge of capital markets products, including derivatives
  • Skilled at analyzing root causes of problems and anticipating "horizon" issues
  • Ability to coordinate and manage large review teams
  • Ability to work at senior levels and build constructive and effective relationships with peers
  • Effective analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Project management skills

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
