The Role Responsibilities

Purpose
  • The main purpose of this role is to lead, manage and drive the Aspire program across Hong Kong and GCNA. It is expected that around 75% of time in this role will be taken up by the Aspire Program. Aspire is a multi-year program aimed at enhancing Finance system capabilities including delivery of the SAP ledger, while streamlining data and the related Finance operating model.
  • Aside from Aspire, this role may also need to oversee other project / change management initiatives covering other projects across Hong Kong that may require Finance involvement from a reporting or accounting perspective.
  • The project to replace the Hong Kong Core Banking system (Hogan) is also expected to kick off next year and this role will be extensively involved to lead, coordinate and drive this activity from a Finance perspective.
Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role cover:

Aspire

Be the single point of contact for all Aspire related matters and changes impacting Hong Kong/GCNA Finance. Lead all Aspire related discussions and decisions impacting Hong Kong / GCNA Finance including liaising with the concerned GCNA and Finance Operations and Transformation (FOT) teams. Drive solutions to ensure that the changes proposed land well within the Country/Region and that the benefits from the change are effectively derived. Work with the Finance Transformation and functional teams to implement the changes ensuring alignment with the Hong Kong/GCNA Finance reporting systems.

  • Product Finance - Review the changes and perform impact analyses on downstream in-country finance reporting platforms, participate in the UAT testing and walkthrough the changes with in-country stakeholder and raise concerns to project team from country perspectives,
  • Core Finance - Country Template set up: work closely with country finance stakeholders on the user requirements, share the country specific user stories with the project team in the capacity of SME, review testing strategy and participate in the UAT.
  • Core Finance - Business Planning and Consolidation: work closely with the SME and project teams on the testing and issues follow up.
  • Project Management - Work closely with the GCNA champion to provide regular updates to GCNA senior management on the project status, issues and risks. Work closely with other GCNA teams on the reported issues and escalate to senior management as necessary.
Other Project/Change initiatives

Take the lead on Project/Change management within Hong Kong Finance and work closely with finance stakeholders and project teams to ensure the successful delivery of planned Project / Change initiatives in Hong Kong. This will also include Aspire related activities.

This will include the following critical Change Management activities:

  • Ensure end-to-end project delivery is managed and is followed through across the change / project lifecycle i.e. from initiation, providing and signing off business requirements, User Acceptance Test, Go-live and post go-live.
  • Escalate all change / project risks and issues as appropriate, and ensure mitigating actions are put in place on a timely basis.
  • Define test cases and approaches and ensure UAT entry and exit criteria are met.
  • Identify users (onshore and offshore) and arrange training where applicable.
  • Log issues (UAT and post go-live), assign criticality and closely follow-up till full resolution.
  • Build rapport with Hong Kong Finance units and pro-actively communicate change initiatives at key milestones (Initiation, UAT, Issues, Go-live)
  • For new initiatives, organise kick-off meetings with the Hong Kong Finance teams to provide project background, scope, milestones and deliverables and capture the impact of change across all teams.
  • Partner with Technology and work collaboratively with respective Finance unit heads in Hong Kong and GCNA to achieve project objectives.
People Development
  • Build knowledge within the team via applicable training courses (internal/external).
  • Coach back-up arrangements.
  • Contribute to team building and cohesiveness

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Recognised accounting and/or financial control experience and qualifications (ACA, CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Good knowledge in any of financial / regulatory / management reporting as well as product accounting.
  • Good working knowledge of product control, ledger, transaction processing system (especially in financial market systems) in the Banking industry.
  • Experience in managing a team to deliver in a dynamic environment with multiple delivery deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of product lifecycles particularly accounting and risk management.
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to convey complex messages quickly and succinctly to various stakeholders and also able to challenge the views and actions of others in a constructive manner.
  • Capacity to think creatively and laterally with good reasoning and analytical skills.
  • Solution driven and capable of thinking through multiple solutions to a problem.
  • High level of drive and resilience along with attention to detail; willingness to work hands-on.
  • Track record of working in an organised way, multi-tasking, prioritising and achieving deadlines.
