Job Summary: The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supervising the Accounting department and performing assigned accounting functions.

Duties & Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Supervise and develop accounting team members. This includes: maintaining timecards, documenting disciplinary concerns with HR, completing employee evaluations, training, coaching, motivating, directing work, etc.
  • Maintain the general ledger system. This includes preparing appropriate ledger entries and account reconciliations.
  • Compile budget items, commercial property insurance information, and other duties as requested by Controller.
  • Analyze expenses on an ad hoc basis.
  • Actively assist in and/or coordinate audits as necessary. Audits include: mid-year, interim, and yearly financial statement audits, 401k audits, insurance audit for worker's compensation, warehouse physical inventories, etc.
  • Coordinate sales and use tax work performed by outside tax authorities to create and maintain a proper reporting framework and resolve any state inquiries/audits.
  • Complete tax return documents related to CAT, Direct Pay, and sales and use tax in multiple states. Prepare yearly tax provision workpapers and corporate income tax workpapers. Ensure payments made on time and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate and well documented records and oversee the Document Storage and offsite storage facilities.
  • File annual reports with various states Secretary of State and complete state registrations as appropriate.
  • Complete government surveys as required
  • Oversee the Visa credit card system as administrator.
  • Review customers to ensure appropriate levels of Trade Credit Insurance are applied. Maintain levels of insurance monthly/as needed. Gather and compile data for the annual insurance renewal process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.


Requirements

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5 years' relevant accounting experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Thorough understanding of accounting methods, procedures, and terms.
  • Ability to solve accounting problems, understand the flow of activities, and correlate fragmented facts to make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to execute data queries in OBIEE.
  • Computer skills and spreadsheet proficiency.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Work effectively as a leader within a team environment.
  • Organize and lead a group of employees on projects and daily work.
  • Strong sense of confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Capable of proactive approach to identify and eliminate potential problem areas.
  • Must be able to work independently and in groups and be self-motivated in both settings.

  • This position operates primarily in a professional office environment.
