The Australian Payroll Manager is considered a crucial and a highly specialised role within our business. This is a perfect role for a senior payroll specialist who can work autonomously to execute the Payroll function. You will have the support and Guidance of the Group People Systems Manager as needed.

Your responsibility is centred on the on time and accurate processing of the monthly and fortnightly payrolls, across Australia, in a highly customer centric manner. The payroll encompasses over 1000 employees under different business brands so there is a complexity that ensures this role is never boring. As expected, data analysis and reporting are required for a variety of purposes therefore you will need to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including HR, Finance, and Management.

You will be the point of contact for all payroll queries with the expectation that you engage in a credible, trustworthy, and customer centric way to ensure our people understand their pay and entitlements. You will have many manager touch points across the organisation so again your credibility and helpfulness in helping your stakeholders navigate Payroll systems and processes is paramount to your success.

This role will be based in our modern facilities at Chullora NSW, reporting to the Group People Systems Manager.

Your role:
  • Payroll working on a strict deadline to ensure wages and salaries are issued accurately, efficiently and on time.
  • Interact with all employees with courtesy, patience and understanding, and be ready to address questions on a range of related topics.
  • Champion continuous improvement strategies, aligning department with best practice; maintaining a strong focus on quality control and encouraging a proactive approach to client issues to increase the quality of services delivered.
  • Drive the performance of the payroll function to deliver on agreed expectations and achieve outcomes within defined resources and timeframes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources to coordinate system change activities that deliver good outcomes for customers.
  • Deliver payroll-related data for business activity and performance (Monthly, quarterly, and annual).
  • Maintain data accuracy/ integrity and process management of the ADP Payforce system.
  • Liaise with end-users to ensure system quality by building up skills within the organisation through a superuser network.
What you have:
  • Knowledgeable in Australian payroll legislation and STP.
  • Demonstrated experience working in high volume payroll of 1000 + employees on both monthly and fortnightly cycles.
  • Confident problem solver with a calm under pressure nature.
  • Advanced level in MS Office Suite such as Excel, with experience as a Superuser in ADP Payforce as a must.
  • Strong communicator - personable, credible and recognised influencer to others.
  • Ability to conceptualise and identify opportunities for process improvement.
