The British Antarctic Survey (BAS), part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), aims to undertake a world-class programme of scientific research, and to sustain for the UK an active and influential regional presence and a leadership role in Antarctic affairs.
We are looking to appoint an Assistant Management Accountant to
- Deliver effective and efficient financial support, analysis, reporting, initiatives and specialised services to BAS Service and Innovation staff.
- Work closely with colleagues in NERC Swindon and other Research centres, Audit and Shared Service Centre UKSBS to shape financial strategy.

Purpose
Delivery of effective and efficient financial support, analysis and reporting, with a focus on the BAS Science and Innovation community
Assist the Finance Business Partner in providing information and support to grant holders, senior managers and UKRI-NERC on all aspects of finance.
Qualification
Training toward AAT level 4 or part qualified CCAB or equivalent accountant.
Duties
Preparation and support in the production of monthly management accounts and project reports including journals, reconciliations and variance analysis.
Raising a large number of invoices in line with contracts and funders T&Cs and maintenance of billing tracker
Monitor project data and provide support and advice to grant holders
Create and maintain grants on Oracle system
Preparing financial information for projects and grants in a variety of different presentational forms
Establishing good working relationships across the organisation and UK SBS Ltd
Support the Finance Business Partner in ensuring that BAS is effectively managing its financial risks, including audit
Ad hoc project work and financial analysis as required
Deputise for Finance Business Partner as required
