About KPMG in Malta

KPMG in Malta is one of the leading providers of audit, tax and advisory services. Our vision is to be our clients’ clear choice, the employer of choice, and also to maintain the highest levels of trust by the community. Our work is client-centric, and we integrate innovative methodologies and deep expertise to deliver results. This translates into a high level of client satisfaction. Our experience ranges from multinationals to promising startups, private to public sector undertakings, local to international clientele. Our values remain at the heart of all we do; shared by all our firms in 147 countries. KPMG (including Microsoft Business Solutions) is the largest professional services provider in Malta, with over 750 employees.

About the role

The dynamic investment services and funds regulatory landscape has changed significantly over the past few years, particularly due to the introduction of European Union legislation such as the UCITS Directive, Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) and MiFID II. The market participants comprise 150 licensed service providers licensed, 21 recognised fund administrators and over 610 funds licensed or notified in Malta. The combined NAV of locally-domiciled funds stands at Eur14.9 billion, with an additional Eur2.3 billion relating to non-Malta domiciled funds which are administered in Malta. The industry remains an important, attractive and exciting one for the local economy.

Against this backdrop, we are looking to strengthen our team with experienced specialists and are looking for people who are interested and keen to build and develop their career within the investment services and funds regulatory environment. The recruited specialists will be at the core the firm’s service offering to our clients in this area, including, assisting in due diligence work as part of transactions, obtaining/extending of licences, providing advice, and carrying out assurance work. The position also provides the opportunity of working closely with other network firms in foreign jurisdictions, providing a clear opportunity for career growth.

Experience & Qualifications

To be considered for this vacancy, you must hold a university degree in law, finance, or similar. We are also looking for at least 3-4 years of experience in the investment services and funds space. The right candidate will be confident to interact directly with international clients. Fluency in English is a requirement. Technical knowledge on local and European Union investment services and funds regulations, as well as people and management skills are important.

Skills & Attributes

We are looking for people who are team players and progressive thinkers, who relish the challenge of solving problems and can communicate their ideas with passion. People who keep on learning, who want to be leaders in their profession and who want to make a difference. People of integrity and independence of mind.

This role provides great exposure, both within the KPMG network and wider afield, and, for the right candidate can provide further career and development opportunities.
