Job Description

The Specialist – FP&A provides business, financial analysis and reporting support for Inform to Manage Processes. S/he expected to deliver moderately complex analytics and reporting support for their assigned corporate, line of business, sector, shared service, region, country, or legal entity team. S//he plays an integral role providing support for the development of period end commentary, variance analyses, and reporting; supporting KPI metrics tracking and scorecard reporting, providing capital planning, project planning, and budget management support, in addition to a wide range of planned periodic and unplanned delivery to ad hoc requests as assigned. S/he is responsible for managing Corporate Staff (Support Functions) cost allocations to the businesses. This includes monthly production of the actual cost allocations report, providing analysis, forecasting and budgeting. S/he will act as the face of Corporate Staff (Support Functions) Finance to every line of business we allocate to. The Specialist will act as a main owner of changes to the allocation model and represent Corporate Staff (Support Functions) with Corporate Finance as it relates to needed enhancements to the allocation process and Apptio system. S/he will lead the effort to ensure all Corporate Staff (Support Functions) service level documents (SLD’s) are in place where needed in accordance with regulatory and third-party governance (TPG) requirements.

S/he might need to perform and deliver adhoc requests from businesses as needed. S/he will also develop and deliver approved process documentation and training content to the knowledge management warehouse for publication.

S/he will be an individual contributor who can help and guide other team members. S/he will report to the respective business manager locally and/ or globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • To contribute to or perform analysis of moderate, complex financial transactions, budgeting, forecasting, planning, reporting, general ledger accounts, operating performance, profitability, and industry/competitor outcomes and trends
  • S/he may provide analytical support to more complex activities such as audits; and the fulfillment of moderate, complex ad hoc requests and special projects as assigned
  • In addition to ad hoc requests and special project assignments, the Analyst might be called on to perform moderate, complex analyses of: - financial performance, e.g. actual revenues and expenses vs. forecasted/planned revenues and expenses - decision support for a prospective business opportunity or new product offerings - competitive performance, e.g. key performance indicators for BNYM as compared to its competition - profitability analysis of products offered and customers served - comparative analytics, period to period - variances in connection with the close
  • Management of Corporate Staff (Support Functions) cost allocations to the businesses
  • Acting as the main owner of changes to the allocation model and represent Corporate Staff (Support Functions) with Corporate Finance.
  • Leading the effort to ensure all Corporate Staff (Support Functions) Service Level Documents (SLD’s) are in place where needed in accordance with regulatory and Third Party Governance (TPG) requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in a financial discipline such as accounting, finance, statistics, or economics. MBA or Professional qualification like CA, CWA or equivalent certification issued by local area Licensing body would be an added advantage.

Skills & Experience

  • 7 plus years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • 5 plus years of experience in budgeting, planning, forecasting, cost allocations, financial analysis and modeling, Business intelligence.
  • Superb communication skills - Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Self-starter – Should drive change on his/her own with minimal direction needed
  • Analytical – Ability to easily dive into very arcane details on allocations and bring it up to the appropriate level of audience they are communicating with
  • Confident and calm demeanor with ability to perform under pressure and handle difficult situations.
  • Advanced Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Proficiency with tools like TM1, ESSBASE, Apptio, Cognos, Power BI, People Soft etc., is an added advantage
