We are seeking an Accountant II position for a local company here in the Rogue Valley. We are a federally qualified community health center (FQHC) that is committed to serving a diverse group of people, many of whom face barriers to care. We are seeking a skilled team-oriented accountant to join our team and a growing organization. This is a position that is a senior level position responsible for supporting financial record-keeping and reporting requirements and ensuring compliance through a comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting standards. This includes completing account reconciliations, general ledger preparation, preparation of journal entries, financial reporting, solving moderate to complex accounting issues, and year-end audit preparation and the support of budget activities. This position adheres to tight deadlines supporting various levels of the organization, and requires strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal as well as a strong customer service focus.

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Completes general and standard journal entries as well as reviewing for accounting and grant funding accuracy, periodic updates of cost accounting methodologies and internal charging reasonableness.
  • Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
  • Prepares and/or reviews monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepares and/or reviews payroll transactions for grant and cost accounting accuracy, math accuracy, and compliance with wage and hour rules.
  • Produces monthly internal Financial Statements according to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepares and/or reviews annual Form 990 IRS report. Completes Medicare FQHC cost report. Assists with annual federal UDS reporting and data transmission in compliance with current federal reporting instructions and timeline.
  • Assists accounting staff and clinic/program directors with accounting and budget questions and concerns.
  • Authors and updates written accounting policies and procedures as needed.
  • Develops customized reports in accounting system and program linkages using Excel and MIP.
  • Prepares budget development, monitoring and grant reporting as needed.
  • Assists with monitoring investments and CD's to maximize earnings.
  • Prepares monthly reports on encounters and revenue for individual revenue-producing staff or as requested by supervisor.
  • Assists in new and existing staff training.
  • Completes all accounting entries accurately (less than 2% error rate) and on a timely basis.
  • Reviews all accounting transactions for compliance with any governmental or foundation requirements or limitations. Assures that all accounting entries, vendor and payroll transactions are accurately coded to the appropriate funding source(s).
  • Assures compliance with all generally accepted accounting principles for financial statement purposes.
  • Completes all internal and external reports that are assigned by supervisor accurately and within defined time limits.
  • Completes annual FQHC Medicare Cost Report accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Produces accurate internal financial reports and statistics.
  • Prepares accurate and complete accounting entry documentation and back-up records for all accounting entries.
  • Works as team member.
  • Performs any other financial, accounting or statistical task as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: Required:
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or another related field.
  • Minimum: Three to five of experience in accounting.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Skills to intervene and promote reconciliation, compromise and positive outcomes in difficult interactions.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred:
  • Experience working in a non-profit.
  • Medical / Health Industry background or experience.
  • Basic knowledge of adult learning models.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
