Position Summary
The Scholarships/Funds Management team of the Student Financial Aid Officeis seeking an enthusiastic individual to work as Accounting Intern. Theselected individual will perform various clerical and
routine accounting tasks in support of the Financial Aid Office to include:
*Creation and maintenance of spreadsheets
*Verifying and processing of departmental award and tuition payment forms
*Assist in the performance of various account reconciliation processes
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Preparation of spreadsheets for financial analysis
*Data entry into Banner (UNM's financial system) for funding transactions
*Running queries for data and reporting
*Journal entry preparation
*Account reconciliation
*Ensures strict confidentiality of financial records, in compliance withfederal and state privacy legislation
*Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
*Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
*Process off-campus billing

Preferred Qualifications
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Accounting major with a minimum of 9 hours of accounting coursework and/or relevant experience in basic accounting process
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED:
• Proficient in the use of MS Excel
• Basic data entry and/or word processing skills.
• Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
• Ability to perform simple accounting procedures.
• Records reporting and maintenance skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems.
