Job Brief

Reporting daily to the Operations Manager the Accountant performs a variety of professional level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. Maintains the accuracy of the territory ledgers and financial systems assists in the preparation of assigned budgets, annual audit, and year end closing.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the management of petty cash to include regular forecasting, monitoring of spending, disbursement and recording in the tally system.
  • Ensures Tally Accounting system is kept fully up to date with entry of all goods received and all daily sales received by cashier.
  • Prepares cash and sales balances on a daily basis and keeps an accurate payments schedule.
  • Responsible for carrying out regular stock takes to ensure reconciliation and accurate records.
  • Prepares sales invoices ensuring all accounts are kept up to date and balanced.
  • Responsible for recording aging list of receivables and updates management regularly of outstanding debtors.
  • Prepares assigned budgets as required.
  • Ensures operations have appropriate accounting recording systems and processes in place for optimum accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure daily and monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts. Liaises with banks and statutory bodies to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Assists the Finance Manager with the preparation of the financial statements for reporting on the company's performance.
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Secures financial information by completing data base backups.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Any other duties as will be required by management.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.

  • Requirement
  • Qualified Accountant with a recognized accountancy body.
  • A minimum of 2 years' accounting experience.
  • Experience of producing full monthly management accounts, consolidation, budgeting, forecasting and group reporting.
  • Intermediate Excel skills with the ability to analyze and manipulate data to meet reporting requirements.
  • Detailed knowledge of financial accounting and reconciliations; financial systems and process development.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills. Ability to build rapport and work within a team.
  • Proven financial accounting, systems, general ledger and process skills.
  • Excellent self-management skills and the proven ability to meet deadlines and targets.
  • Manages performance issues by setting high standards of performance.
