Salary Range: $95,867.20 - $134,800.80 Salary Offer Dependent on Qualifications

Position Overview:

As the Deputy Finance Director, you'll be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the financials for the City of Aspen and its component units, fulfilling a key leadership role within the Finance team. In this role you'll lead the accountancy division of the Finance Department, overseeing all activities such as general ledger management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and fixed assets - complementing all other budgetary, audit and procurement functions also housed within the Finance department. In addition, you'll oversees the annual audit process, and assesses and recommends adjustments to internal financial controls. Finally, in this position you'll play a critical role in the management of the City's cloud-based ERP system. In total, the City of Aspen's annual budget equates to roughly $140M across twenty-one funds.

Qualifications and competencies should include:

As is true for all leadership roles within the City, this is a hands-on position that partners with all levels of staff to find solutions to business decisions and provide needed financial support to a variety of stakeholders. To be successful, you should possess at least three years of experience in supervising professional financial staff; hold at least a bachelor's degree in Accounting (master's degree and CPA licensing preferred); have a deep understanding of fund accounting common in non-profit organizations and government; experience working in complex financial ERP systems and be technologically savvy; and have a passion for community service.
